Description

a sweet red bean soup with rice cake, often served on New Year's.

Ingredients

  • adzuki beans
  • sugar
  • water
  • rice cakes

Directions

  1. Soak adzuki beans in water overnight.
  2. Boil beans and drain water.
  3. Add 3 cups of water and cook beans until soft.
  4. Add sugar and cook over slow fire.
  5. Add pinch of salt and remove pot from heat.
  6. Grill rice cakes.
  7. Ladle sweet soup into bowl and add grilled rice cake.
